SUMMARY:Net Zero Chemical Manufacturing – Unlocking the power of biotechnology to transform the UK chemicals industry webinar
DESCRIPTION:Net Zero Chemical Manufacturing – Unlocking the power of biotechnology to transform the UK chemicals industry webinar\n\nSeptember 6 @ 10:00 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\nThe Bioeconomy Cluster Builder and Chemical Industries Association are delighted to host this webinar dedicated to exchanging knowledge and building connections between the chemical manufacturing and industrial biotechnology (IB) communities. \nBio-based chemicals have the potential to significantly reduce the environmental impact of chemical manufacturing. By decreasing our dependence on fossil fuels\, the conversion of biomass to chemicals\, including utilisation of problematic by-products and waste\, helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions\, supporting our journey to Net Zero. Furthermore\, the adoption of bio-based alternatives offers sustainable\, resilient supply chains which recognise increasing consumer demand for superior environmental performance. \nTo drive this transition\, it is recognised that significant research and innovation are required across the chemicals industry. The widespread adoption of industrial biotechnology offers numerous pathways to support this shift\, with collaboration and knowledge sharing critical to unlocking transformational opportunities. \nJoin us on 14th September to learn how biotechnology is transforming global chemical manufacturing and to discover how the Bioeconomy Cluster Builder can help you connect with the right people and resources to support your ambitions in this area. \nThe Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) is running a dedicated feasibility funding call to complement this event. Grants of up to £10k are available to support industry led collaborations with Scottish academics. Come along to find out more! \n  \nAgenda\n\nIntroduction to the Sustainable bio-based materials and manufacture programme and the Bioeconomy Cluster Builder\nIntroduction to chemical industry challenges – Chemical Industries Association\nCase studies on how the Chemical sector is incorporating biotechnology.\nQ&A\nUnderstanding how the Bioeconomy Cluster Builder can support you\nIBioIC funding information\nNext steps\n\n  \nWho should attend?\n\nChemical industry challenge holders\nBiotechnology solution providers\nAcademics\nFunders and investors\n\n  \nAbout the programme\nThe Sustainable bio-based materials and manufacture programme seeks to address the challenge of developing innovations in sustainable and scalable biomanufacturing processes. \nThe Bioeconomy Cluster Builder (BCB) is a collaboration between the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) and Innovate UK KTN. The project raises awareness of biotechnology and supports its application in the development of new value chains across the bioeconomy. Using the extensive networks of the partner organisations we connect people and resources to support innovation in this rapidly evolving area. To find out more about the project and our planned activities\, or to get involved\, please visit our website. \nFor further information please contact Kim Cameron at IBioIC or Dana Heldt at Innovate UK KTN.

SUMMARY:Flex: A Whole New World
DESCRIPTION:Date and time\n\n\n \n\nWed\, 13 Sep 2023 09:00 – 12:00 BST\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n \n\nTap Social Movement \nNorth Hinksey Lane Oxford OX2 0LX \nShow map\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n3 hours\nMobile eTicket\n\n\n\n\nWe’re delighted to invite you to join us at the Tap Social Taproom from 9am – 12pm on 13 September 2023\, for the chance to discuss the most popular flexible working options for organisations. \nPost-pandemic\, flex is a big subject on everyone’s lips – but what if you’re unsure where to start? What if some kinds of flex have proved better than others for your team? \nWe’d love you to join us for the chance to really consider the nitty-gritty of what works best\, and meet like-minded professionals. We’ll be hearing from companies who’ve trialled 4 day working weeks\, those who’ve embraced full-time remote working\, and those who’ve managed teams which include part time workers. We’ll be learning about the experiences of people at all levels of seniority – from more junior workers to those holding senior leadership positions – and how they’ve made flex work for them and their organisations. \nCrucially\, though\, we’re not going to be shying away from the big questions. Which kinds of flex bring about the greatest happiness of the greatest number? Which kinds are “easy wins” to aid staff retention and recruitment? What’s caused teething problems? And how can employers make sure that flexible working works for them? \nAs well as listening to our brilliant speakers\, we very much want to hear your views and to give you an opportunity to share your experiences of flex. Please do come and join us! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTags\n\n\nUnited Kingdom Events\nOxfordshire Events\nThings to do in Oxford\nOxford Networking\nOxford Business Networking\n#worklifebalance\n#flexibleworking\n#remoteworking\n#flexible_working\n#hybridworking\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the organiser\n\n\n\n\nOrganised by\nThe 9-2-3 Club\n\nContact\nFollow\n\n\n\n\n9-2-3 Jobs specialises in finding flexible work for experienced professionals. \n\n\n\nFacebook profileTwitter profile\n\n\n\n\nReport this event

SUMMARY:29th Fusion Energy Conference (FEC 2023)‎
DESCRIPTION:The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) fosters the exchange of scientific and technical results in nuclear fusion research and development through its series of Fusion Energy Conferences. \nThe 29th Fusion Energy Conference (FEC 2023) aims to provide a forum for the discussion of key physics and technology issues as well as innovative concepts of direct relevance to the use of nuclear fusion as a future source of energy. \nAccording to the IAEA’s Fusion Device Information System (FusDIS)\, as of 2023\, there are almost 130 experimental fusion devices and testing facilities operating\, under construction or being planned\, and a dozen of demonstration plant or pilot plant designs under development. Driven by recent scientific and technical advances\, a vibrant private sector and the climate crisis\, attention is switching to the remaining challenges of demonstrating the technological feasibility of fusion power as well as the safe and economic viability of this energy source. \nThe scope of FEC 2023 is\, therefore\, intended to reflect the priorities of this new era in fusion energy research\, technology development and preparation to industrial deployment. The conference aims to serve as a platform for sharing the results of research and development efforts in both national and international fusion programmes that have been shaped by these new priorities\, and to thereby help in pinpointing worldwide advances in fusion theory\, experiments\, technology\, engineering\, materials\, advanced concepts\, safety\, socio-economics and preparation to industrial deployment. Furthermore\, the conference will also set these results against the backdrop of the requirements for a net energy-producing fusion device and a fusion power plant in general\, and will thus help in defining the way forward. \nWith the participation of international organizations such as the ITER International Fusion Energy Organization and the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom)\, as well as the collaboration of more than 40 countries and a great number of research institutes and organisations\, including those working on smaller devices\, it is expected that this conference will\, like previous conferences in the series\, serve to identify the possibilities and means for continuous and effective international collaboration in this area. \nThe 29th Fusion Energy Conference is being organized by the IAEA through the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) in London\, United Kingdom\, from 16 to 21 October 2023. Previous conferences in this series were held in Salzburg\, Austria (1961)\, Culham\, United Kingdom (1965)\, Novosibirsk\, Russian Federation (1968)\, Madison\, United States of America (1971)\, Tokyo\, Japan (1974)\, Berchtesgaden\, Germany (1976)\, Innsbruck\, Austria (1978)\, Brussels\, Belgium (1980)\, Baltimore\, United States of America (1982)\, London\, United Kingdom (1984)\, Kyoto\, Japan (1986)\, Nice\, France (1988)\, Washington DC\, United States of America (1990)\, Würzburg\, Germany (1992)\, Seville\, Spain (1994)\, Montreal\, Canada (1996)\, Yokohama\, Japan (1998)\, Sorrento\, Italy (2000)\, Lyon\, France (2002)\, Vilamoura\, Spain (2004)\, Chengdu\, China (2006)\, Geneva\, Switzerland (2008)\, Daejeon\, Republic of Korea (2010)\, San Diego\, United States of America (2012)\, Saint Petersburg\, Russian Federation (2014)\, Kyoto\, Japan (2016)\, Ahmedabad\, India (2018) and Nice\, France (postponed from 2020 to 2021 and held online because of the global COVID-19 pandemic).

SUMMARY:Networking in… The Friendliest Networking Group in our corner of the internet
DESCRIPTION:Networking in… The Friendliest Networking Group in our corner of the internet\nGet your ticket here\nPrice: £10\nWhen: 15th November 2023\nTime: 07:30-09:00\nWhere: Online \nNetworking in…with Benjamin Drury – “Putting the joy and emotion back into business.”\nBenjamin Drury\, The Culture Guy is one of the UK’s top challenge speakers. He will be our speaker at this session with an exciting yet insightful topic. \nWe’ve spent the last 40 years becoming more “professional” which means more serious\, hard-nosed in how we do business and we’ve removed the emotion from it. But people are emotional. We all make decisions and run our lives based on emotions. Without emotion\, you can’t attract and engage the best clients or employees and they won’t do their best work without being able to express their emotions. We should be emotional at work. Everything in this world is emotional because really it’s all about people. \nImagine every one of your employees\, partners and suppliers comes to work excited and energised by what they do. Bringing their ‘A’ game\, solving problems\, hitting deadlines\, and going the extra mile. How would that change your organisation? How would change the mood of a nation? \nThe irony is that research shows when you build a strong\, authentic emotional culture\, honestly expressed in the way you do business\, your business grows too.\nIn this session\, Benjamin Drury\, The Culture Guy\, will take us through the science of why emotions matter and how to create a strong\, authentic culture with The Culture Canvas\, whether you’re a business of one or a multinational corporation of thousands. \nKey Takeaways:\nUnderstand why emotions matter in business.\nDiscover the four parts of creating a positive culture.\nFind out how to elevate and differentiate your business with an authentic culture. \nNetworking in…\nWhat works for one person can sometimes be a complete turn-off for another. We looked around at all the other groups\, took the best bits; and did it our way. \nWe believe that the best networking groups are diverse in age\, sex\, race and religion. We also believe that people buy from people; we don’t exclude or have caps / exclusivity within a sector. If you want to win business in our rooms; you’ll win it because of who you are\, what you do\, and how you do it; rather than you being the only option. In our groups\, you’ll have ample opportunity to tell your story\, listen to everyone else’s\, and then have the time to make all the connections you want. \nJOIN US ONLINE ON THE 1ST AND 3RD WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH AT 7:30AM-9:00AM \nNot all business networking was created equal and we think you’ll find our events quite special \nIf you love & come regularly to Networking in… check out The Alliance
