SUMMARY:Net Zero Chemical Manufacturing – Unlocking the power of biotechnology to transform the UK chemicals industry webinar
DESCRIPTION:Net Zero Chemical Manufacturing – Unlocking the power of biotechnology to transform the UK chemicals industry webinar\n\nSeptember 6 @ 10:00 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\n\n\nAbout the event\nThe Bioeconomy Cluster Builder and Chemical Industries Association are delighted to host this webinar dedicated to exchanging knowledge and building connections between the chemical manufacturing and industrial biotechnology (IB) communities. \nBio-based chemicals have the potential to significantly reduce the environmental impact of chemical manufacturing. By decreasing our dependence on fossil fuels\, the conversion of biomass to chemicals\, including utilisation of problematic by-products and waste\, helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions\, supporting our journey to Net Zero. Furthermore\, the adoption of bio-based alternatives offers sustainable\, resilient supply chains which recognise increasing consumer demand for superior environmental performance. \nTo drive this transition\, it is recognised that significant research and innovation are required across the chemicals industry. The widespread adoption of industrial biotechnology offers numerous pathways to support this shift\, with collaboration and knowledge sharing critical to unlocking transformational opportunities. \nJoin us on 14th September to learn how biotechnology is transforming global chemical manufacturing and to discover how the Bioeconomy Cluster Builder can help you connect with the right people and resources to support your ambitions in this area. \nThe Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) is running a dedicated feasibility funding call to complement this event. Grants of up to £10k are available to support industry led collaborations with Scottish academics. Come along to find out more! \n  \nAgenda\n\nIntroduction to the Sustainable bio-based materials and manufacture programme and the Bioeconomy Cluster Builder\nIntroduction to chemical industry challenges – Chemical Industries Association\nCase studies on how the Chemical sector is incorporating biotechnology.\nQ&A\nUnderstanding how the Bioeconomy Cluster Builder can support you\nIBioIC funding information\nNext steps\n\n  \nWho should attend?\n\nChemical industry challenge holders\nBiotechnology solution providers\nAcademics\nFunders and investors\n\n  \nAbout the programme\nThe Sustainable bio-based materials and manufacture programme seeks to address the challenge of developing innovations in sustainable and scalable biomanufacturing processes. \nThe Bioeconomy Cluster Builder (BCB) is a collaboration between the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) and Innovate UK KTN. The project raises awareness of biotechnology and supports its application in the development of new value chains across the bioeconomy. Using the extensive networks of the partner organisations we connect people and resources to support innovation in this rapidly evolving area. To find out more about the project and our planned activities\, or to get involved\, please visit our website. \nFor further information please contact Kim Cameron at IBioIC or Dana Heldt at Innovate UK KTN.

SUMMARY:Flex: A Whole New World
DESCRIPTION:Date and time\n\n\n \n\nWed\, 13 Sep 2023 09:00 – 12:00 BST\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n \n\nTap Social Movement \nNorth Hinksey Lane Oxford OX2 0LX \nShow map\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n3 hours\nMobile eTicket\n\n\n\n\nWe’re delighted to invite you to join us at the Tap Social Taproom from 9am – 12pm on 13 September 2023\, for the chance to discuss the most popular flexible working options for organisations. \nPost-pandemic\, flex is a big subject on everyone’s lips – but what if you’re unsure where to start? What if some kinds of flex have proved better than others for your team? \nWe’d love you to join us for the chance to really consider the nitty-gritty of what works best\, and meet like-minded professionals. We’ll be hearing from companies who’ve trialled 4 day working weeks\, those who’ve embraced full-time remote working\, and those who’ve managed teams which include part time workers. We’ll be learning about the experiences of people at all levels of seniority – from more junior workers to those holding senior leadership positions – and how they’ve made flex work for them and their organisations. \nCrucially\, though\, we’re not going to be shying away from the big questions. Which kinds of flex bring about the greatest happiness of the greatest number? Which kinds are “easy wins” to aid staff retention and recruitment? What’s caused teething problems? And how can employers make sure that flexible working works for them? \nAs well as listening to our brilliant speakers\, we very much want to hear your views and to give you an opportunity to share your experiences of flex.
