Fusion for Medical Radionuclides Event!

September 24 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm

We are pleased to invite experts from academia, public and private fusion organisations, public health organisations, pharma industry, as well as stakeholders from government bodies to the Fusion for Medical Radionuclides Event, which will take place on the Wednesday 24th September our Culham Campus!

The UK’s capacity to produce medical radionuclides is currently limited, which can make treatments in nuclear medicine at-risk. This is further influenced by growing markets and existing international reactors that are aging and undergoing frequent periods of maintenance. A number of projects are underway across the UK to develop methods of domestic production. One such method may be through the emergence and growth of fusion technology; where applications beyond typical power production facilities can be explored. For example, the high energy neutrons available from deuterium-tritium fusion may open up certain  production routes of novel medical radionuclides that may currently be unavailable with existing routes.

The UKAEA Innovation team is organising a one-day event to discuss and explore how fusion technology could help address the current and future demands for medical radionuclides, in the UK and beyond, with talks from experts and plenty of time for networking.

The event presents an opportunity to explore how fusion technology could enable innovation in global healthcare, in critical areas such as targeted cancer therapy, precise diagnostics and more!

Interested in showcasing your work? We have space for up to 10 posters during the Networking & Poster Session. Poster presenters are expected to bring their own posters and be available to engage with attendees and stakeholders during the session. You can book your space for a posters at the registration form.
